i just found this today:

textmate

probably the coolest looking code editor ive ever seen in action. this thing appears to have beaten out jedit in ease of use... and yeah.. i just hate that java feeling while working with jedit.. so fucking slow. ugh.

so yeah.. they should make a port for textmate... or someone should just copy how it works and make something like it for windows =)
