I was just reading a great article about Che and Castro.. didn't know some of the stuff in there, however I *did* make a connection to a game I used to play! I was reading the article.. I saw "Che and Castro" together.. then I saw "guerrilla". Kept reading a bit.. then I thought of that game I used to play all the time. It did have a very island like, tropical setting.. it was based around two guys fighting a guerrilla war. Yep. I was right!
The Ernesto "Che" Guevara Connection
The game is based on the exploits of revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara and the defeat of the Batista regime in Cuba in the late 1950s. The original Japanese title of Guerrilla War was Guevara. However, fearing extreme anti-Communist sentiments in the West, SNK did a localisation of the game's dialogue and instruction manual for its US and European releases. The edition of Guevara released for the Japanese Famicom is a sought-after item for video game collectors.
