havent updated for awhile.. just thought id check in.

most of my time lately ive been doing martial arts stuff, programming and learning.. im about done with one of my programming jobs.. its a webapp. ill deploy it sometime in the next week hopefully and it'll be open for beta testing. hopefully right after that ill be starting another web application.

i think im going to start making an inventory of things ive accomplished, places ive been etc for the past 5-10 years or so to commemorate the 20th annual national jesse allen crouch day. it's just a month away.. amazing how time flies.

ive been looking for apps to do cpu/memory/net usage on a linux server.. fedora specifically. found plenty of rrdtool related stuff, but id really like some recommendations. things aren't as easy to just slap into and test on a linux server like they are on a windows desktop. id appreciate any recommendations.

ive been learning more guitar stuff lately.. quite the instrument.. knowing basic music theory has helped a lot, but its nothing like playing a piano.. biggest problem lately is my fingers being in pain.
ive been trying to learn german too, but thats going rather slowly.. its hard to repeat stuff on tapes when youre in the house with someone else. i go walking and running and listen when i can, but i hate the cold.. luckily its warming up.
ive been learning more electricity related things lately too.. mostly ive been finding out more and more how much physics is so outrageously incomplete.
still learning a lot of ruby on rails.. more and more everyday.
i got a new acupressure book too recently, so hopefully ill try some of that stuff out soon.. i actually know at least one acupuncturist and possibly another person who knows some general TCM stuff.
lots of martial arts stuff lately.. learning a lot there because i get to practice a lot with josh.. haha.. he wants to practice almost everyday for like 4 hours a day. usually we get something about every other day and its generally 2-4 hours... usually closer to four though.
today i learned that slava wrote jedit when he was 14. amazingness. he's 22 now. that's a pretty neat accomplishment for a 14 year old.

i dunno what to say about microsoft lately*@!#& fucking vista. microsoft has no innovative spirit anymore... they havent come up with anything awesome since windows 95/98.. i mean.. 2000/xp were improvements, but.. eh. vista looks like a huge piece of mac clone shit.. which im sure everyone else but me will love.. i hate pretty UI shit. ugh.. resource hog bullshit. ms plans to release SIX versions of vista.. as though people weren't confused enough with 2000/xp home/xp pro.

im getting tired of web2.0 looks. it was cool when it first came out, but now its just.. old.. and stupid.. sure its better than repeating backgrounds with bright green text, but it's getting really unoriginal and all websites look like each other. i dunno what the next trend for the web will look like, but im actively searching for it and brainstorming for it.

one person in history to meet.. who would it be? i got that question the other day and i didnt really know what to say.. i was just thinking about it and i think id pick tesla. i dont really know of anyone else id pick over him.. mises.. jefferson..napoleon maybe even. i dunno.. there are a lot of cool people, but i think tesla would be my pick. actually.. i would pick fdr.. if i could kill him.

ive been thinking lately about trying to get a job doing photo manipulation stuff.. like i do on this site.. ive actually never heard of anyone having a job JUST doing that kinda work though. ive seen freelance artists that do it, but i dont know anyone that does it as a main job. maybe with some design or advertising firm or something.. but ive never actually met anyone that does just that. i could go for a photography job too, but quite honestly im not that great of a photographer.. im just good with photoshop and i can frame a picture decently. but yeah.. if you know anyone that needs someone for a job like that lemme know =)
