I never thought I would see a tax-related bill that I would support so much. It's amazing.

US Representative John Campbell has proposed a permanent ban on internet taxes. The current Internet Tax Freedom Act is set to expire in late 2007. This bill would extend the ban indefinitely.

Unfortunately I don't think it's going anywhere in it's current state. Even if it makes it past the House I don't see it going through the Senate with any ease. There's already been way too much opposition from state governors and I really don't think it's going to go through - although it might go through as an extension of just a few years instead.

"I oppose taxes on Internet use, period – from federal, state or any other government," said Campbell. "I think this bill symbolically says that we, the federal government, don't believe that anyone should be taxing the Internet."
