The megapixel race must end.
I bought my camera earlier this year for $240. Today on ebay you’ll be lucky to find it under $450.. one I know went for $616. Electronics, particularly computer-related ones, are supposed to go down in price, not up.
I knew my camera was great when I bought it; I didn’t know it was that great.
This legendary, award-winning camera will have its place in history. Its popularity comes from its sensor’s ability to take excellent-quality photos and moreso from being able to take excellent-quality low-light photos. I use this camera all the time indoors and all I ever need to do is turn on some regular interior lights to not need the flash. You cannot at this time do this with any other point and shoot camera and get this kind of quality.
Story behind the legend
Fuji did not continue this line with the same greatness this camera brought to its name. They got rid of the older, better sensor in favor of higher-megapixel, inferior sensors.
Cameras are to the point with megapixels that it’s almost meaningless anymore for almost any consumer use for photos. There is a lot more that makes a great camera than megapixels. Someone needs to come along and do what AMD did to Intel during the processor race and just say “No more competition for meaningless numbers, we’re just plain better than you”. I’m tired of seeing good things die because some fool consumers buy based on their complete lack of knowledge. Somebody needs to stop the megapixel race.
